National Planning efforts
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has developed a public health plan for pandemic influenza call the HHS Pandemic Influenza Strategic Plan. This plan has been developed based on health related emergencies that have occurred in the past, such as SARS.
In addition to the plan, HHS has been working along side the World Health Organization (WHO), countries around the world and responders to improve the detection, tracking and response to influenza. Together they are formulating ways to produce larger quantities of vaccine more quickly.
